Sibling kinship care research

Across the UK, an estimated 204,000 children live in the care of family members who are not their parents. Much of the research to date has focused on children living with their grandparents but there are other kinship families too.

I received funding from the ESRC to carry out a PhD research study into the the experiences of families where the main carer is a sibling of the children and young people they care for. On this page I will post updates on my progress, and put links to information for people who want to take part, or want to know more about the research.

If you have experience of being a carer for your younger brother or sister, and you are interested in this research, please see this information sheet.

If you have experience of being cared for by your older brother or sister, and you are interested in the research, please see this information sheet.
